Dave Renz’s main goal as a music educator is to provide tools and techniques that will allow students to grow independently for their lifetime. He enjoy’s teaching all levels. Dave feels the most critical aspect of playing a wind instrument is tone and lyrical quality of performance. For these reasons, he works with students with duets as early and often as possible. He also feels playing with them, to model tone and phrasing is critical.
He will gladly teach jazz style and phrasing as well as improvisation (though this requires strong technical skills which need to be established). To get the most value out of lessons students should be playing daily…if they are not playing at least 5 times a week progress will be greatly diminished…and the growth between 5-6-and 7 days of regular practice a week is exponential!
