It’s a bittersweet time as we say goodbye to trumpet teacher George Whittam after 20 years at Taylor’s! With many years of IT and retail management experience, George started here as an employee and consultant. With his help and expertise, he upgraded our old cash registers to a computerized POS system, assisted with software upgrades, website development, electronic repairs, and installed security cameras throughout the store. In addition to all of these contributions, he served as the General Manager of Taylor’s for 10 years, and finally began teaching trumpet in 2014. 😮🤩 Wow!
George has played trumpet for most of his life, and while spending time in the Navy in the late 60s was a member of the Sixth Fleet Admiral’s Band on board the aircraft carrier USS Wasp. Since then, he’s performed with various groups and pit orchestras throughout the Delaware Valley and was the leader of both the George Whittam Orchestra and the swing band Big G and the Cool Cats. A fantastic performer and teacher, George has had many loyal students over the years who had great success under his tutelage.
George’s talents as well as his warm and friendly personality have made a remarkable impact on the success of Taylor’s Music Store & Studios. Thank you, George! You will be greatly missed but will always remain a special part of the Taylor’s family.
