Lori Amada, a Curtis Institute graduate, has traveled the world as a horn player. She has performed as soloist more than 60 times with orchestras around the globe. She received praise from Leornard Bernstein, Eugene Ormandy and many others including Ricardo Muti who described her “like an angel”.
She was invited to the White House with a subsequent performance at the Kennedy Center for President Ronald Reagan.
She has played in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Dresden Staatskapelle, and was previously Principal Horn with the Hong Kong Philharmonic. She can be heard on their Stravinsky recordings with Atherton. Lori is currently playing with many orchestras in Pennsylvania.
She began her studies on the piano with Susan Starr and Eleanor Sokoloff. She later added the French Horn, and studied with Dale Clevenger, Nolan Miller, Mason Jones, among the list of notable horn players.
She has also played with Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, and Frank Sinatra, to name but a few.
Lori is known for her teaching skills. She has been teaching for over 25 years at Universities straight through nursery school aged children. She is encouraging, organized, and patient, and makes learning fun.
