The tenor saxophone is a transposing instrument in the key of Bb which means C on the tenor sax sounds a Bb. A relatively new instrument, the saxophone is usually made of brass with lacquer or silver plating. The Saxophone is a common part of military bands as well as western classical and jazz music.
