Brian Dwyer
Brian is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music with a degree in Music Business/Management. He has performed with many national recording artists including Deep Purple, James Taylor, Bobby Vinton, Sting, Connie Francis, “1964 The Tribute”, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Oleta Adams, Al Martino, Johnny Maestro & The Brooklyn Bridge, and Natalie Cole. He toured the United States and Canada with the Broadway show “Annie”, serving as a member of the pit orchestra. He has also performed the National Anthem for both the Philadelphia Phillies and Baltimore Orioles in solo appearances.
In addition, he can be heard on Mercury Records’ Platinum®️ selling recording “Let’s Face It” with The Mighty Mighty Bosstones.
Brian has over 31 years of private teaching experience and teaches all brass instruments, with trumpet being his specialty. Brian’s teaching experience began in college, where he quickly realized that he most enjoyed helping people on an individual basis.
In addition to performing in myriad musical idioms, he has made a career of private teaching, having conducted over 26,000 lessons since 2001. That performance experience weaves its way into many lessons, sharing “real-life” experiences about the practicality of the material that is studied.
Brian’s teaching methods include a warm-up routine, scales, and etudes or songs from various method books (depending on the skill level of the student). Lessons are tailored to each individual. Sight-reading, improvisation, and ear training are also part of most lessons. Material that is time-sensitive for the student, such as school music for band/orchestra, as well as seating test/audition music, is given top priority. Many of his students have gone on to become fellow performers, band directors, and scholarship winners.
