Chris Cotter
Chris Cotter has been a full time music instructor for over twenty years at Taylor’s. A professional musician from the greater Philadelphia area, he has spent his life studying diverse musical styles and techniques with great drummers such as Greg Zeller, Fred Biondi, Tom Palmer, Michael Lauren, Memo Acevedo, Kim Plainsfield, Guy Licata, Frank Kats, and Dom Famularo. Through extensive study and practice, Chris integrates rock, hip-hop, jazz, funk, and latin styles into his playing.
Chris stays active in the local music community acting as a voting member in the Philadelphia Chapter of the Grammy Awards. He also owns a local record label and recording studio (TribeSound Records) in West Chester where he produces many local artists. Lessons with Chris are taught in either of Chris’s studio spaces which gives his students an opportunity to learn about the recording process and what it’s like to be a studio musician.
Drum lessons with Chris Cotter are hard work at times, but he also puts a focus on having fun as he teaches drumming and percussion. His laid back personality and positive attitude is a comforting characteristic that makes learning from him easy. Chris also plays several instruments, so you can expect to have plenty of opportunities to jam with another musician on guitar, bass, or a second drum set!
Chris offers lessons to teen and adult students interested in practicing the art of the drum set as a hobby or long term. Several of his students have gone on to become fantastic processional drummers and educators.
