Don Kelley
Don Kelley retired from West Chester Area School District in 2021 after serving as a band director for 35 years. During his time with WCASD, he taught all ages at elementary, middle, and high school levels. From 1997-2021, he was the band director at Stetson Middle School, where his concert and jazz bands won numerous awards. Don currently performs as a trumpet player in the Main Line Symphony Orchestra, Pennsylvania Symphonic Winds, and Chester County Pops Orchestra.
As a private trumpet teacher, Don has successfully coached many school-age students through the PA Music Educators Association District, Regional, and All-State festival auditions as well as prepared trumpet students for college acceptance auditions. He is equally comfortable guiding adult students through carefully sequenced developmental playing skills and encourages anyone who used to play an instrument to dust it off and return to the joy of music making!
Don’s approach to teaching is collaborative, empowering, and goal oriented. His students are encouraged to participate in goal setting that will include the needed resources, tools, and real time examples to be successful. All ages and skill levels are welcome.
