George Whittam
George Whittam has been a trumpet performer for most of his life. While spending time in the Navy in the late 60’s George was a member of the Sixth Fleet Admiral’s Band on board the aircraft carrier USS Wasp. Since then George has kept his lips in shape playing with several bands and pit orchestras in the Delaware Valley. They include, “currently featured trumpeter of the Bow Tree Brass Quintet and The Miner Street Brass”, and formally the Chesco Pops Orchestra, The West Chester Band (past president) and the Lukens Band. George was the leader and producer of the George Whittam Orchestra and the big swing band Big G And The Cool Cats. “Big G” studied with Enrico Ritrovato and Joseph Magno who taught George to focus on tone, breathing and range, which is an absolute prerequisite for a great playing technique! George‘s musicality is influenced by trumpeters such as Louis Armstrong, Maynard Ferguson, Doc Severinson, Winton Marsalis, Chris Botti and Clifford Brown just to name a few. George welcomes students at all levels and is well experienced in teaching young players. Please complete the lesson information form and George will be given your information and will be in touch.
