Joe Buglio
Joe Buglio is a classical/jazz pianist and teacher. He received his Bachelors degree in Music Education from West Chester University and a Masters degree in performance from the Eastman School of Music. Most recently he earned a graduate certificate in Piano Pedagogy from West Chester University. He studied music with piano pressor Terry Klinefelter, concert pianist Rebecca Penneys, and jazz pianist Jimmy Amadie. Mr. Buglio is a retired music teacher and choral director, having taught in the Great Valley, Avon Grove, Stroudsburg, Bristol Township, and West Chester Area School Districts. His longest post was at Henderson High School as the Choral Director for twenty years. In addition to teaching private lessons at Taylor’s, he is an adjunct professor of Piano and Music Theory at Eastern University in Radnor, PA.
At Taylor’s, Mr. Buglio approaches piano lessons by modeling good technique and emphasizing harmonic and music theory understanding. He demonstrates touch, musicality, and expression, guiding students to develop the practice habits they need to reach their goals. His personal teaching philosophy is to pursue playing the piano for self- discovery and to develop a love and appreciation for the instrument, and teaches students to become self-motivated. In addition to private lessons, Mr. Buglio teaches a beginner piano class for adults through the Chester County Night School on site at Taylor’s.
