Kate received her Bachelor’s in Music Education (vocal/choral) from the University of Delaware and her Master’s in Choral Conducting from West Chester University. Throughout her career, she has studied and performed choral, classical, opera, musical theatre, acappella, and jazz styles of singing. Kate’s passion for music has led her to focus on advocacy for arts education programs within the community at large, creating opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to awaken their inner musician. In 2006 she co-founded a nonprofit community choir, Concordia Choral Arts, and has led the organization as Artistic Director for over 10 years. Through Concordia, Kate established an annual Rising Artist Vocal Scholarship competition for young singers ages 9-13, awarding a cash prize for lessons, classes, or other musical pursuits.
Kate’s approach to vocal training is establishing good technique and music literacy as a springboard to mastering a variety of different musical styles. Her students will have the opportunity to sing songs they love as well as broaden their skills by learning music in varying styles/genres. Kate is excited to nurture each individual’s unique musical talents and welcomes students of all skill levels over the age of 8.
